We stayed in this small town in the Basque region of France. For this first painting, I decided to paint on the balcony of our hotel room to experiment with the paints. This was the view from the balcony.

As part of a Europe Trip in September and October of 2024, I took two weeks to rent a car and travel around Southern France to paint the mountains and country side. These next set of paintings were done in the last few weeks of October 2024. I had to purchase a new set of paints, brushes and easel locally for this painting. Due to the slower drying time of the paints, I left some of the paintings with the hotels and Airbnb hosts.

This painting is based on a older house in the old town of New Plymouth. It is located on the island of Green Turtle Cay. We stopped in here while sailing back north after visiting the Exumas islands.

The palette in my pochade box has become a beautiful painting itself. I haven’t had time or the place to do a clear wipe of my palette in my box for a few months now and the paints have dried forcing me to continually add new paints and find free areas to mix and test paints and colors before committing to the canvas.

We have been sailing around the Exumas for a few weeks and this painting is based on a hike near Cambridge Cay, Bahamas.

We spent 3 days at Man-o-war island with a few visits to this town. The town is famous for boat building and this old boat was in one of the boat builder yards.

We spent two nights around Hope Town, Bahamas. This tiny island town has a unique old school light house that I painted.

Here is the second sail boat that we have been sailing with for several days now. This is based on a view of the boat outside of Manjack Cay, Bahamas.
