One early morning, I trekked about 3 miles into the Emigrant wilderness to this special hidden, unnamed lake. This painting is based on this small rock cove at the end of Pinecrest lake in the still early morning light with reflections of the trees on the water next to big boulder rocks.

The early morning light on the lake makes the large sugarpine tree bark a golden orange and brown and the light filters thru the green vegetation/

This nearby meadow is a wonderful place to do plein air painting. Here is another painting in the meadow in the later afternoon with another painter and PCT hike who painted that afternoon.

This larger 11×14 painting of evening was done at the cabin outdoor studio. Putting together an covered outdoor painting area at the cabin and this is one the first paintings in that space. Great light and open air while painting in this space

This painting was painted on site on the river in Strawberry, CA.

This painting is based on a view of Camp Lake in the Emmigrant Wilderness Area in California.

The lake has a small rocky cove at one end and this painting was painted onsite in the lake afternoon.

This painting is based on a early morning lake run and a photograph taken early during the morning with the easterly light coming thru the trees at the lake edge.

In later May, I returned back to my cabin in the Sierras to start to paint plein air painting locally there. The next few paintings are painted locally or at the cabin studio.
